We're very excited to release a cool new feature for our "Advanced Designer" premium service - the integration between FourFour and Typekit. Typekit is a new web service that "... will change the way you design websites. Add a line of code to your pages and choose from hundreds of fonts. Simple, bulletproof, standards compliant, accessible, and totally legal."
In other words, this integration makes it really easy to use custom fonts throughout your website, from styling main menu links to page headings to whatever other text elements you want to make stand out.

New "Advanced Designer" Tutorials
We've also added a couple new FAQs on how to make use of our CSS Editor that comes with "Advanced Designer". Definitely check them out to learn how to further customize the design of your FourFour site:
That's three more fantastic reasons to upgrade to "Advanced Designer".
If you haven't done so already, perhaps now's the time :)
If you're not already familiar with ArtistData, it's an online service that helps you manage your information across many different websites by entering shows and news just once and having it automatically update social network profiles, concert databases, Twitter, official news feeds, iCal, and more, for you. It's a great way to easily update your Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter accounts, as well as general event websites like Zvents, Eventful and SonicLiving, all in one place.
And now, FourFour is the first (and only) website platform for bands that fully integrates with ArtistData, letting you add shows and news in ArtistData and have it automatically update your official website as well!
To integrate your FourFour website with your ArtistData account, go to your new ArtistData settings page and follow the instructions (if you go to your main Account page, you'll now see an "ArtistData" link in the left sidebar menu under "Twitter" in "Settings"). If you don't have an ArtistData account, you can first create one for free.
As always, don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Happy New Year! Wishing you much success in 2010!

A few days ago we told you about our newest premium service - "Advanced Designer" - which lets you use your very own CSS code to customize the design of your site on FourFour. We thought it might be helpful to show you what this tool can do!
We quickly...like, just a couple hours...coded up some CSS for one of our demo sites: http://www.yourofficialwebsite.com
Here's what we did:
- we added image-based main menu links that use a totally custom font
- we changed up the layout and put the sidebar on the right side
- we added a background image underneath the main page content area, and use this background only on the homepage
- we stylized the individual Twitter and Latest Updates posts
- we removed the display of the footer
- we removed the sidebar
- we added a different background image in the main page content area, this time a photograph
- again, we stylized the individual News posts
- yet another background photograph, specific to this page
- we removed the display of Latest Releases from the sidebar
Click on the "Wild Card" album to go it's detail page.
- we added a promo image above the album details, specific to this album
- changed up the layout again, just for this page, putting the sidebar back on the left side
- removed the display of the Music Player from the sidebar

One important thing to know. If you upgrade to "Advanced Designer" and start coding your own CSS, we'll copy over all of your existing design settings for you. You won't lose any of the hard work you've already put into customizing your site. And, you can switch back and forth between basic and advanced mode at any time ... we preserve both settings.

The holidays are finally upon us and 2010 is just a daze away. While you're all downing one too many eggnogs, we figured now would be an ideal time to stuff your stocking with a new premium service...one that unleashes your creativity and lets you do all kinds of crazy new things to your FourFour website.
So, let's tear off the wrapping paper and see what's inside...........
An "Advanced Designer"!
Yep. Now you can take full control over your site design by using your own CSS code. This upgrade gives you direct access to your CSS file so you can customize the design of your FourFour site by hand. And it doesn't stop there. "Advanced Designer" also automatically validates your CSS to catch errors before they impact your site. How sweet is that?!
What does this mean?
Want to remove modules from the sidebar on certain pages? Now you can.
Want to change the layout of your site and put the sidebar on the right instead of the left? Now you can.
Want to use rollover images to spruce up your main menu links with your own unique font? Now you can.
Want to decorate individual elements on each page with their own graphics? That's right...now you can.
To learn more about "Advanced Designer", just follow this link:
To upgrade for just $39 per year, login to FourFour and go to your Account page:
As always, if you have any questions and/or need help with anything at all, don't hesitate to contact us via the site or firstname.lastname@example.org.

Today is a momentous day for FourFour.
From the very first moment that Trevor and I started working on FourFour, almost two years ago, we have been driven by a simple idea: every working band and musician needs an official website. If we could create a platform that made it really quick, easy and inexpensive for bands to build and manage their official website, then we could grow a thriving community of independent, DIY-minded, hard-working, and digitally-savvy bands and musicians. If we could develop a next-generation Web 2.0 platform, and the community using this shared platform grew large enough, we could then build powerful new management tools that leverage the collective intelligence of all these great artists, enabling them to more efficiently book gigs, get reviews, generate sales, and grow their fan bases. We have just taken a huge step forward in making this simple idea a reality.
Today, we have become the first...the one and only...website platform built exclusively for bands and musicians to go completely free!
In the same way that Wordpress and other blogging services offer bloggers a free platform to establish a presence online, FourFour now becomes the first platform to do the same for bands and musicians. There are many bands who are just starting out, who want (need) an official site, that long for something more than a MySpace page, but cannot afford to hire professional designers and programmers. For many, they cannot even afford $20 a month. We want FourFour to become their platform of choice. We want FourFour to become the platform of choice for all independent artists - from the very new to the long established. By doing so, it is our aim to accelerate the growth of our community and begin evolving FourFour from simply a website platform into a full-blown online management system.
Starting today, bands can sign up to FourFour for free, and then, optionally, choose to pay for upgrades from an a la carte menu of Premium Features.
Oh, what a day!
All the beats,
Steve & Trevor
Trevor took a hiatus from HIJK in the summer of '08 and spent that time purely focusing on FourFour. A year later FourFour is live and growing and HIJK has returned with a new lineup. Their first show in over a year is...
Wed 08/19/2009 - 8:30 pm
Cafe du Nord
2170 Market Street
San Francisco, CA
We just rolled out an update that lets you add a Facebook Fan Box to your official site. Simply copy/paste the code that Facebook generates for you into FourFour and a Fan Box will automatically appear in your sidebar. Check out a live example on the homepage of HIJK's site (scroll down - it's on the left under Latest Releases).
You can now display your most recent Twitter updates on your homepage. And why stop there?! At the same time as adding or updating a show, you can also "tweet" the details directly from FourFour to your followers. We even auto-generate and insert a short URL for your Buy Tickets link!
FourFour is all about simplifying your life as a band or musician...helping you save precious time. So now when you add an album to your discography, we'll look it up at iTunes for you, and, if available for sale, auto-generate a link directly to your album in their store.
